Commissions
Don’t be frightened of them!
It is not possible to have original work to suit what everyone is looking for. Favourite views, sizes of work and colour preferences vary considerably. If you want something specific and can’t find it on my website or in the gallery then please speak to me about a commission.
I have done many commissions and am happy to discuss specific or favourite views you might want to turn into a painting. Prices are very reasonable, many just 10% above paintings of a similar size and price in the gallery. This covers the work I generally have to do visiting the sight or working up a proposal.
Commissions can be big or small but all are particularly special because it is unique and painted especially with the recipient in mind. Over the years I have painted these special gifts to celebrate Engagements and Weddings, Retirements, Birthdays, New Homes and Special Memories. For examples, see below:
Sample Commission
A couple wanted a picture of where their wedding proposal took place.
I know the landscape and views well so visited the location and took photographs. The brief was very broad and I was invited to decide on the specific view and style.

A couple selling a farm that had been in the family for four generations wanted a number of favourite views to take with them when they moved.
This commission was undertaken using photographs of specific favourite places sent by the customer plus two site visits for additional photographs and colour sketches.

A customer who loved the Dales. She did not want a specific view but wanted something that was ‘typical’ of the Dales. She had specific features that invoked the Dales to her (sheep, fields, fells, cottages and a barn). She also wanted warm autumnal colours.
This commission was undertaken with a tight brief. I discussed what the customer wanted on a number of occasions and the style of my work she liked. I then sent photographs of possible locations and we agreed the view to be painted.
